Friday Group

Friday Group is a social gathering of older or less mobile residents of Castle Donington and the local villages. The group meets every Friday afternoon in St Edward’s Church Hall, from 2pm to 3.45pm. There is a varied programme of entertainment from music, quizzes and games, speakers and the occasional outing to a garden centre. TFriday Group teaDSCN3289
there is even the opportunity of getting your ‘flu jab done once a year as the surgery nurse comes to the group. Speakers are invited from the local council, police and other local services as well as guide Dogs, RSPCA, National Trust, local authors, companies and groups. It is an opportunity to meet old friends, make new friends and enjoy chatting and laughing together. There is a weekly attendance charge of £5 each, tea and light refreshments are included and transport available from the CDVC Community Buses. The volunteer drivers and passenger assistants are there to help, so wheelchairs, walkers and walking sticks are welcome! I presume the Friday Group is constituted with its own bank account. At the District Council we have funding available for constituted community groups, the Small Grant Scheme up to £500 for new projects or one off pieces of equipment. If you would like an application form please let me know as below.

Thank you Julie, we would indeed be happy to apply for the £500 funding. Please forward the application form to me,
